FY2019 Nanostructural Analysis Platform Workshop Practical Use of Solid-State NMR Instruments
The Nanostructural Analysis Platform at the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS) will hold an equipment usage workshop on the following date.
We look forward to your participation.
Date & Time: October 29, 2020 (Thu), 13:00–15:00
Venue: Room 108, 2nd NMR Experimental Building, Sakura Site, NIMS
Capacity: 1–2 participants (Intermediate Course)
Application:Please apply by sending an email to the address below. (Deadline: January 31, 2020 [Fri], 17:00)
When applying, please provide your name, affiliation, department, position, address (contact information), and telephone number.
Organizer:NIMS Nanostructural Analysis Platform
Course Outline
Solid-state NMR measurements require a variety of advanced techniques. Among these, the process of spinning the sample at high speed (up to 20,000 revolutions per second!) is particularly demanding and requires considerable experience and caution.
In this training session, participants will use the high-resolution solid-state NMR probe (see photo) currently used at NIMS. Through hands-on experience—from sample preparation to spinning the sample—you will learn the essential know-how for accurate measurements.
This course is designed for intermediate users, as accidents such as breaking the sample tube tend to occur more often among users with some experience rather than complete beginners.
(Please understand that this training session does not include instruction on performing the NMR measurements themselves.)
