An article appeared in MANA publication CONVERGENCE* (Vol. 23, issued in June 2016) detailing MANA’s notable research achievements. The article was on the development of spintronics elements that operate based on a new principle using the movement of ions.
*A periodical journal – published tri-annually. CONVERGENCE provides readers with information on MANA research activities, special guest interviews, etc. to provide up-to-date information to all its readers.

A farewell lunch was held for Dr. Mannequin, who spent two years in our group. Dr. Mannequin will assume a position at the University of Tsukuba from September 1.

Dr. Terabe gave a presentation on the results of atomic switch research at NIMS to the G7 Science & Technology Ministers and the then Minister of State for Science and Technology Policy. Related articles appeared in the Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Tokyo Shimbun and Ibaraki Shimbun.

A review article, entitled ‘Current progress in solid state ionics: Nanoionic devices with a variety of novel functions’, appeared in Oyo Butsuri (Vol. 85, No. 5).
*Oyo Butsuri is the membership subscription of the Japan Society of Applied Physics, published monthly in Japanese. It introduces research related to applied physics, in an easy-to-understand manner, and runs comprehensive reports, reviews and recent articles about the outlook for applied physics.

Farewell party for Ms. Gubicza

Ms. Gubicza, from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BUTE), who spent three months under the NIMS Internship program, has returned to Hungary. A farewell party was held was held for Ms. Gubicza at a local Japanese restaurant.
