The 9th Japanese Culture Class "Furoshiki Wrapping" was held at Ninomiya House on January 14, 2011. Furoshiki is a traditional eco-friendly Japanese wrapping cloth that was used to transport, for gift wrapping, interior decoration and more.

The 15 participants of the class learned from the instructor, Ms. Keiko Tsuda, the histroy and diversity of Furoshiki and how to wrap with Furoshiki. Then they tried to wrap various things, a book, a tissue box, chopsticks, a knife and fork with beautifully designed Furoshiki. Lastly, the participants tried to wrap a wine bottle with Furoshiki and Mizu-hiki, a ceremonial two-tone paper string. After learning how to make a good knot, they really enjoyed Furoshiki wrapping.
