Access to TML by public transport
- From Tokyo

The closest stations to TML are Tsukuba on TX line, and Arakawaoki on JR Joban line.

By Tsukuba Express (TX)
Tsukuba Express (つくばエクスプレス), Tokyo's fastest private railway, connects the central Tokyo and Tsukuba city. It runs through remarkable sightseeing sites: Akihabara, known as an electric town flourishes unique subculture, and Asakusa, known for historical sightseeing. It also connects to the other high field magnetic facility, Institute for Solid State Physics, University of Tokyo.

The journey time is approximately 45 minutes from Akihabara to Tsukuba by rapid service, and the single fare is 1,150 yen. To see the various routes to Akihabara, please see JR railway map. Please note TX and JR Akihabara station are in separate buildings within 5 minute walking distance.

By Japan Railway (JR)
Ueno, a major commuter hub station, connects to Arakawaoki. Take Joban line (常磐線) from platform 9, 10 or 11. The journey is approximately 60 minutes, and 950 yen for one way. Go to the station bus stop #4 at West gate (西口), and take a local bus bound to Tsukuba Centre. The fare is 440 yen for one way. The bus also stops by the other NIMS sites on the way.

By Bus from Tokyo station
If you come to TML straight from Tokyo station, coach travel is also available. Go to highway bus stop #3 in Yaesu south exit (八重洲南口), and take a bus bound to Tsukuba Centre. The journey time is 65 minutes (subject to traffic conditions), the single fare is 1,150 yen. The bus also stops by the other NIMS sites on the way.

From Tsukuba station to TML
When you get to Tsukuba station, go to bus stop #3 at Tsukuba Centre through station exit A3, and take a local bus to TML. If you are registered by NIMS, take a NIMS shuttle bus from "company bus stop B (企業バスのりば B)" at Tsukuba Centre terminal.
