" Gas sensing with metasurface infrared photodetectors"

◆Background◆
・HgCdTe detectors have been used for high-sensitivity measurement of 5 – 10 mm wavelength range
・Avoiding the use of toxic Hg and Cd is desired (RoHS, Minamata Convention)
・Narrow-band detectors with arbitrary wavelength is promising for gas sensing

◆Aim◆
・Utilize less toxic metasurfaces made of arrayed sub-wavelength-sized plasmon cavities including quantum wells.
・Efficiency higher than 10% has been realized by enhanced intersubband transition.
・Will be applied to high-sensitive detection of gases such as NOx.
