Automatic fatigue observation system

This system able to track microscopic fatigue crack initiation and growth behavior automatically. Panoramic images of entire specimen surface are periodically captured during fatigue test to track the microscopic fatigue crack initiation. Allowable testing temperature is RT to 700˚C by using the heat induction coil.

Example of the microscopic fatigue crack investigation

This figure shows the example of the microscopic fatigue crack initiation and growth behavior of Alloy 718 of Ni based superalloy. The fatigue crack initiated along slip band of the grain. This system enables us to understand fundamental materials information such as, what is the feature of weakest area of the material, ratio of fatigue crack initiation life and growth life, and so on.
