◆Theme◆
Self-Organization Strategy for Organic Photovoltaic Application

◆Abstract◆
Organic photovoltaic devices based on π-conjugated polymers have attracted great interests recently. So far, the most popular devices have been made by using bulk heterojunction (BHJ) systems based on poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT). In this presentation, we report on a novel approach to fabricate organic photovoltaic devices, wherein a self-assembling block copolymer containing P3HT was utilized to directly co-assemble PCBM, ZnO or TiO2 into a well-defined “double-channel” network (DCN) nanostructure for efficient charge transport, enhanced exciton separation, and prolonged thermal stability. As a consequence of the structural development, the photovoltaic devices with the DCN structure exhibit better power conversion efficiency than those from a conventional BHJ solar cell. These results show promise for the practical usage of all-conjugated block copolymers with different main chain moieties towards the fabrication of organic photovoltaic devices with improved stability and competitive optoelectronic properties.
