The Sensor Materials Center (SenMC) was established under the umbrella
of an independent administrative institution, the National institute for
Materials Science (NIMS), on April, 2006, in order to accomplish the goals
laid out in the 2nd Mid-term Program of NIMS.
By driving forward research focusing on developing
novel senor materials and systems and by making
fundamental breakthroughs regarding sensing functionality
in various materials, SenMC is taking on the
role of contributing to the advancement of sensor
science while helping to establish and maintain
the security and safety of our society.
