Iron can be made into steel products with various properties and shapes repeatedly through the manufacturing processes such as smelting, casting, and thermo-mechanical treatment.

The members from Metallurgical Processing Group in different fields are working together to understand them, not as separate processes but as a whole.

Studies in microstructural evolution through the total process are pursued with modeling and the experimental simulation. We are exploring the design concept and trying to acquire the fundamental understanding for novel metallurgical processing.
