Heat resistant
steels saving CO2 consumption (highly
efficient fossil-fired power plant steel)
Research and development towards
industrialization, such as the processing method for large-sized material and extension
of creep lifetime at welding joints.
¡Current results
- Achievement of prolonged creep lifetime
by proposing new concepts for stabilizing the microstructures near grain
boundaries, such as suppression of grain-coarse by boron addition and control of
nano-size nitrides at the grain boundary. (Fig.1 , Fig. 2)
- Achievement of high oxidation resistance
by proposing steel chemistry and surface treatment for the formation of Cr-rich
protective oxide scale.
- Proposal
of a mechanism for the decrease of creep strength in welding joints and simulation method based
on fracture mechanics.
