Research Interests
His main research interest is the process and mechanism of amorphization/nanocrystallization in various intermetallic compounds, e.g., TiNi, ZrCu, and CuTi by severe plastic deformation (rolling, drawing, shot peening and high pressure torsion). Amorphous wires of TiNi made by cold drawing exhibit 3-5% elastic recovery strain. These amorphous/nanocrystalline intermetallics also exhibit high strength as well as high elastic modulus, and thus have high potential as medical device materials. He is also interested in the development of various functional metallic materials, such as, magnetostrictive materials, cryogenic shape memory alloys, etc.
