On April 15, 2026, Dr. Yuhei Ogawa at the Research Center for Structural Materials (RCSM) received the Young Scientists’ Award of the FY2026 Commendation for Science and Technology by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), Japan.

Since 2016, Dr. Yuhei Ogawa has consistently conducted research to understand the failure mechanisms of structural metallic materials for high-pressure hydrogen gas applications. Based on this understanding, he has worked to improve their resistance to hydrogen embrittlement. In recognition of this series of research achievements, he received this award.
