Date & Time: 15:00 - 16:00, October 21st (Tue), 2025.
Place: 2nd Conference Room, Main Bldg. 1F, Sengen.

Abstract:

Heat assisted magnetic recording (HAMR) technology has been officially released at capacities of over 3 TB/disk. Recent laboratory experiments of HAMR demonstrate 6.9 TB/disk. This presentation will explore ideas to maximize the ultimate areal density capability of HAMR to 10 TB/disk and beyond, including novel system architectures and reader designs. It will also introduce ferroelectric recording as a potential successor to magnetic recording. And finally, AI techniques for design and materials discovery for future HDD technology will be presented.
