An innovation hub, which incorporates the fourth field of science, called information-integrated science, into materials science.

The “Materials research by Information Integration” Initiative (MI2I) will be engaged in building and updating database for data science and constructing the cooperation system between the industry, academia and government which covers from materials science to data science, as well as establishing an open innovation hub while encouraging a wide range of companies to participate in. The challenges that it will tackle include the development of materials for rechargeable batteries, magnetic materials, and materials for heat-transfer control and these materials will be put into practice. Development and integration of the venturous new methods will be also progressed and packaged to implement above challenges into society. We plan to extend the areas of materials science by introducing basic technology in artificial intelligence. We will also carry out the development, accumulation and dissemination of new materials research methods as well as the development of relevant human resources systematically, working toward the sustainable development of the hub.
