  3. The 3rd ICNSEE Seminar

The 3rd ICNSEE Seminar

The 3rd ICNSEE Seminar was held at the 2ndConference Room, Sengensite, NIMS in April 12, 2010, gathering more than 40 audiences.

Dr.Yuka Kobayashi and Dr.Takuya Masuda, who had just joined ICNSEE, presented. After each presentation, actively audiences participated in a question and answer session.

"Discovery of Novel Organic-Salt-Materials with Anomalous Electronic State"(ICNSEE, NIMS) Dr.Yuka Kobayashi Senior Researcher

Abstract "Organic-salt materials, which are composed of Brønsted acid and base, have been believed to be typical insulators. Recently we have found that hole-injection is possible in these materials introducing tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) moiety. The electronic state of them in the molecular array is like that of f-electrons in rare earth elements, deeply correlating with their physical properties. J. Am. Chem. Soc., 2009, 131, 9995-10013. "

"Structural and Electorochemical Studies of Electrocatalyst for Fuel Cells and Photo Energy Conversion System"(ICNSEE, NIMS) Dr.Takuya Masuda NIMS Special reseacher

Dr. Masuda introduced some of recent results of his structural and electrochemical studies, by using Surface X-ray Scattering (SXS) and X-ray Absorption Fine Structure (XAFS), of electrocatalyst for fuel cells and photo energy conversion systems.

The seminar was followed by an informal reception and further discussion continued in a relaxed manner.
