On September 17, 2011, MANA will hold "Prof. Kroto’s Science Class 2011" for elementary school students 3rd and 4th grade. This program provides an opportunity for the children to find out how interesting science can be.

Sir Harold Kroto is a professor of University of Sussex, Brighton, UK. He received the Nobel prize in Chemistry 1996 for the discovery of C60 Buckminster fullerene, which is a new form of carbon. His contribution in science education for children is highly praised internationally, and he has held this kind of science program already in UK, USA and Mexico under the name “The Buckyball Workshop”.

Participants 60 elementary school students, 3rd and 4th grade. Accompaning adult is required. Participants will be determined by lot when the number of applicants exceeds the limit. A confirmation will be delivered to accepted applicants.

  • Students are required to be accompanied by an adult.
  • Since Prof. Kroto talks in English, students wear the receiver for simultaneous interpretation in Japanese if they want.
  • Please don’t forget to bring writing implements.
  • We recommend casual clothes since the class would be on the floor.
