Symposium C-7: "Semiconducting Silicides: Science and Future Technology"
Co-organized by Section Society on Semiconducting Silicide s and Related Materials of the Japan Society of Applied Physics (JSAP)

Semiconducting silicides (b-FeSi2, Ca2Si, Mg2Si, BaSi2 etc.) have been attracting great interest becau se of their unique characteristics and promising application to future optoe lectronics. It should be particularly noted that most semiconducting silicid es are ecologically friendly materials. This ecological aspect will increase their importance in coming semiconductor industries. In this symposium many contributed papers and several invited papers will be presented on the follo wing topics. Please make contact with the chairpersons to get detailed infor mation.

Topics
* Synthesis of thin films, bulk crystal growth, and epitaxial growth on Si
* Electrical, electronic, optical, magnetic and mechanical pr operties
* Characterization of silicide microstructures
* Applications to light emitting diodes, photodetectors, sola r cells, thermoelectric power generations, etc.
* Semiconductor materials and processes adapted to sustainabl e technologies
* New approaches such as nanostructures, superlattices, amorp hous silicides, etc.
