Symposium B-8: "Fabrication of Oxide Thin Films and Composites: Superconductors/Ferromagnetic Materials/Ferroelectrics/Others"
Co-organized by Nanoelectronics Research Institute (NeRI/AIST), International Superconductivity Technology Center (ISTEC), The Japan Society of Applied Physics, The Electrochemical Society of Japan, The Association of Synthetic Crystal Science Technology, and Cryogenic Association of Japan, etc.
Scope
The discovery of high temperature superconductors (HTS) triggered new science and technologies in functional oxide heterostructures and oxide electronics. Following HTS, a variety of perovskite oxides, such as colossal magnetoresistive manganites, have been rapidly developed, including metallic, semiconducting, magnetic, dielectric, and optical materials. This allows for the innovation of novel all-oxide devices through combinations of these materials. Important steppingstones towards these new developments are fundamental studies on oxide processing, as well as interactions between dissimilar materials. Also, a joint symposium of B-6, 7, 8 will be organized one day.
Topics
* Science and engineering of the processing of oxide thin films, single crystals, and bulk ceramics.
* Cutting-edge developments in the field of function-harmonized materials, multilayer films, and composites.
