2016.Feb.-Mar. Two students from Shibaura Institute of Technology (芝浦工業大学 Shibaura Kōgyō Daigaku) stayed in our group as internship student.

2015. Jul.-Aug. Two students from Poland stayed as internship student.

2014. September Our group is collaborating with Mie University. Mr. Takeuchi who is a Master's course student of Mie University won "The Metals Best Poster Award" about that collaboration at 2014 Autumn Meeting of the Japan Institute of Metals and Materials.

The awarded poster is as follows, "Molecular dynamics analysis of dislocation behaviors in intermetallic TiAl", S. Takeuchi(Mie Univ.), T. Kawamura(Mie Univ.), Y. Suzuki(Mie Univ.), T. Kitashima(NIMS)

2014. March We attended   JIM(The Japan Institute of Metals and Materials)  and  ISIJ(The Iron and Steel Institute of Japan) Spring meetings in Tokyo.

2014.Feb Abdul Wadood is awarded Tejima award for his PhD work from Tokyo Institute of Technology on Feb 18.

2013.September We had presentation in JIM and ISIJ held in Kanazawa university. ( presentations)

2013.July Pawel Zywicki who is PhD student of Warsaw University of Technology and stay in NIMS under joint graduate university program, won "Best presentation award" in WUT-HHT(Hitach High Tech) -NIMS 4th workshop held in Tsukuba. The presentation title is "The effect of hydrostatic extrusion on phase transformations and microstructure in Ti-30Nb-3Pd alloy ".

2013.April-September We had 5 internship students in our group between April to September from Indonesia, Japan, Poland, and France.

2013. March We attended   JIM(The Japan Institute of Metals and Materials)  and  ISIJ(The Iron and Steel Institute of Japan) Spring meetings in Tokyo.

2012.Dec. 3 Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun (日刊工業新聞, The Business & Technology Daily News), one of the leading daily newspapers in Japan, published an article about high-temperature shape memory alloy developed by Functional Structure Materials group leader Yoko Yamabe-Mitarai. The shape memory alloy can recover its shape at 400C.

2012.Nov. 1 Our internship program was introduced in the newsletter published by Aichi University of Education.
Two students from Aichi University of Education stayed as internship students for two weeks during summer. The article about their staying was reported in the news letter published by arch University of Education. (in Japanese, but you can see some photos.)
2012. Oct. 27 Second Seminar for Science cafe
Mitarai gave a talk titled "Functional materials research about shape memory effect" in the Second Seminar for Science cafe. This seminar was held for people to explain our research supported by Japan Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS) for funding this research through “Next Generation World-Leading Researchers (NEXT)”program.
2012. 10.25  Research of High temperature shape memory alloys will be presented in NIMS forum .
20112.Oct. 16 We joined WUT-HHT-NIMS workshop
Kamil Marek Czelej and Kamil Majchrowicz who stayed in NIMS as an internship student in this summer gave poster presentation in WUT(Warsaw University of Technology) - HHT (Hitachi High Technology) -NIMS workshop held in Warsaw University of Technology.(See photos 1,  2 )
・Yoko Yamabe-Mitarai gave an presentation titled "Ti-base functional and structural materials -high temperature use-2 in WUT-HHT-NIMS workshop held in Warsaw University of Technology.
2012.Oct. 17-18 We joined Energy Materials Conference
Toda and Mitarai joined Energy Materials conference held in Loughborough University, UK.(photo) Toda talked about "Development of Precipitation Strengthened 15Cr Ferritic Steel for Advanced High Efficiency Power Plants". Mitarai talks about "Potential of TiPt and TiPd as high-temperature shape memory alloys"
2012.Jul.-Aug. One student from France , two students from Poland and one from Japan stayed in our group as internship student.
2012.June 4–June 6 We attended NIMS conference 2012 and gave poster presentation. Dr. Arockiakumar Raju won the poster award.
2012. May Dr. Arockiakumar Raju has joined our group as post doctoral researcher.
Mr. Harsh Maheshwari has joined our group as internship student.
2012. April Dr. Abudl Wadoodhas joined our group as post doctoral researcher.
2012. March We attended JIM and ISIJ in Yokohama.
2011. December  Ping gave an invitation talk in Conference of Powder Processing, Consolidation and Metallurgy of Titanium (Australia).
2011.Nov.-Dec. One student from Germany and two students from Japan stayed in our group as internship student.
2011. Nov. Mitarai, Ping, Kitashima, Todak, Shibuya, Kawakita, and Wu gave presentations in JIM (Okinawa).
