Q1. TEMの使用経験がない初心者でも使い方を教わることができますか？
　　 I have no experience using TEM. Do you have training courses for beginners?

A1. はい。TEMの基本操作方法をスタッフが一から丁寧に講習します。
Yes. Nanostructural Characterization Group staff will teach you how to operate equipment from the beginning.

Q2. TEM試料を自分で作ることができますか？
　　 Can I prepare TEM samples by myself?

A2. はい。電解研磨装置を除くTEM試料作製装置がほぼそろっていて誰でも利用することができます。試料メッシュなどの消耗品の一部やピンセットなどを除く必要最低限のものはそろっていますので、初心者でも安心して利用できます。試料作製装置の使い方などもスタッフが一から丁寧に講習します。
Yes. Except for electrolytic polishing equipment, almost all TEM sample preparation equipment is available and can be used by anyone. The minimum necessary items, except some consumable items such as sample meshes and tweezers, are available. The staff will teach you how to use the sample preparation equipment from scratch.

Q3. TEM観察と解析を代行依頼できますか？
　　 Can I request technical surrogate service for sample preparation and TEM observation?

A3. はい。民間企業の方からの依頼については研究開発に関連するもののみ対応可能です。
Yes. But regarding requests from private companies, we accept only proposals related to research and development.

Q4. TEM観察やTEM試料を依頼したいのだけれど、どういう方法が良いかも相談できますか？
　　 Can I ask TEM staff what kind of method would be the best when I request technical surrogate service?

A4. はい。様々な「利用相談」に応じます。まず「お問い合わせフォーム」より電子顕微鏡解析ステーション ナノ構造解析グループ事務局あてにお問い合わせください。なお、具体的な相談の場合は、「利用相談フォーム」をダウンロードし、依頼内容をご記入の上、事務局へお送りください。
Yes. We respond to various consultations. Please contact the Nanostructural Characterization Group office using the "Inquiry Form". For specific inquiries, please download the "Support request form", fill in the details and send it to the Nanostructural Characterization Group office.

Q5. 期待した成果が得られなかった場合でも利用料は請求されますか？
　　Do I have to pay the fee even if the results are dissatisfactory?

A5. はい。研究開発では必ず良い成果が得られるとは限りません。利用料はあくまでも利用したことに対する課金です。
Yes, you do have to pay. The fee is for using the equipment, not for the result.

Q6. 装置が混雑していてなかなか利用できないときはどうすればいいですか？
　　What do I do when the equipment is fully booked?

A6. 電子顕微鏡解析ステーション ナノ構造解析グループ事務局に相談してください。装置スケジュールの調整やステーションスタッフによる代行、NIMS内外の他の共用装置の斡旋などを行います。
Contact the Nanostructural Characterization Group office. We will adjust the equipment schedule or will introduce you to other possible equipment.

Q7. 昨年度も利用していましたが、今年度も課題申請しなくてはいけませんか？
　　I was registered as a user at Nanostructural Characterization Group last financial year. Do I have to submit a subject application this year again?

A7. 課題申請は毎年必要です。詳細につきましては、3月に次年度の申請についての案内をホームページに掲載しますので、そちらをご確認ください。
Yes, you need to submit a subject application every single year. The detail for the next financial year will be on the website in March.

Q8. ARIMと NIMS Open Facility の違いは何でしょうか。
　　What is the difference between the ARIM and NIMS Open Facility?

A8. マテリアル先端リサーチインフラ（ARIM）は文部科学省の委託費事業であり、利用料はNIMSの正規利用料金とは異なります。安価となるケースもありますが、成果の公開など独自のルールが義務となります。
NIMS Open Facility（NOF）は正規利用料金がかかりますが、成果公開の義務はありません。
ARIM is a consignment fee business of the MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology-Japan), and the usage fee is different from the NIMS regular price. There are different rules also, such as requiring publication of results, but the price might be not very expensive.
NIMS Open Facility is a common facility of NIMS. You will be charged NIMS regular price, but there is no obligation to publish results.

Q1. 早急に請求書を発行して頂きたいのですが、どこに問い合わせればよいでしょうか？
　 　I want an invoice as soon as possible. Who should I contact?

A1. 「お問い合わせフォーム」より請求書発行依頼を行って下さい。装置担当者に直接ご連絡頂いても対応出来ませんのでご注意下さい。
Send an invoice request to the Nanostructural Characterization Group office through the “Inquiry Form” on the website. Note that our technical staff cannot respond to invoice requests.

Q2. 本年度の予算の締め切りがあるため、予め支払額を確定させたいです。
　　2月と3月の予約を確定し、早めに請求書を送って頂きたいのですが、どうすれば良いでしょうか？
　　I need to determine the cost in advance, because of this financial year’s budget deadline.
　　How can I make reservations for equipment and get invoices for February and March in advance?

A2. まずは装置担当者に直接装置利用日程の調整を依頼して下さい。装置利用日程が確定した後、「お問い合わせフォーム」より請求書発行依頼を行って下さい。
Contact the person in charge of the equipment directly and determine reservations for February and March. After confirming the equipment usage schedule, request invoices to the Nanostructural Characterization Group office through the "Inquiry Form" on the website.

Q3. 技術補助や機器利用でも見積書を発行して頂くことは可能ですか？
　　 Can I get an estimate for the technical support service or the common use service?

A3. 「お問い合わせフォーム」にてお問い合わせ下さい。
