A ultra-steel exhibition area was established
On Monday, April 14, a ultra-steel exhibition
area was established in the first floor entrance hall of the
Structures Control Laboratory with the presence of Dr. Mutsukazu
Kamo, Vice President of NIMS, and Mr. Takahiro Fujita, Manager
of the Public Relations Office.
The Steel Research Center is currently
promoting three projects, the Ultra-Steel Project, the
Millennium Relevant Project, and the Transfer Project. Our
objective is to present the results of these projects to the
public in the format of materials, products, and outcomes of
experiments. Along with visual displays, we plan to
present these results with a scientific explanation on the
organization, composition, and invention. In addition to the
models and exhibits, we have constructed a system that can
attract our results by merging both animation and sound on a
large-size plasma display with touch panels.
We have also set up a historical corner on
steels so that we can follow the doctrine of "trying to discover
new knowledge by taking lessons from the past" to develop future
steels by looking back at the chronology of steels. We have
borrowed precious materials including ancient nails from
blacksmith Mr. Yukinori Shirataka and have placed them on
display.
We would like to develop this exhibition
area as a place to understand new products, results, and
concepts that are related to the ultra-steel in one viewing.
