International Workshop on Performance and Requirements of
Structural Materials for Modern High Efficient Power Plants

Date: September 6-7, 2005
Place: Darmstadt, Germany

The workshop that was held for the fifth time was based on the memorandum of understanding regarding the research cooperation, which the Steel Research Center and the Materials Information Technology Station signed with IfW Darmastadt. Discussions focused on the materials characteristics and the needs of high strength high temperature structural materials, centering around high Cr heat resistant steels and also including heat resistant austenite steels and Ni based heat resistant, that are necessary for the realization of a 650 to 700 degree steam temperature super class USC power generation plant with the capability of drastically improving the power generation efficiency.
