Seagate Technology PLC is one of the world's leading manufacturers of hard disk drives (HDD), since incorporated in 1979. In Seagate, Recording Media Organization (RMO) is in charge of media R&D at Fremont, CA in USA and mass production at Woodland in Singapore, including perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) media, heat assistance magnetic recording (HAMR) media and bit pattern magnetic (BPM) media. In this presentation, I talk about the media R&D role and responsibility in Seagate Technology, and current R&D activities on PMR and HAMR media. Furthermore, I demonstrate the Seagate technology road map for the information storage trend and prospect.
