Fatigue Data Sheets Nos. 91 and 92

Two newest fatigue data sheets Nos. 91 and 92 are published.

  1.  NIMS FATIGUE DATA SHEET No. 91:
Data Sheet on Fatigue Strength of Non-Load-Carrying Cruciform Welded Joints of JIS-SM490B Steel
          −Effect of Residual Stress
  2. NIMS FATIGUE DATA SHEET No. 92:
Data Sheet on Giga-cycle Fatigue Properties of Ti-6Al-4V (900MPa Class) Titanium Alloy

 * NIMS obtained ISO 9001 Certification for the Quality Management Systems for our Materials Data Sheet Project.

NIMS FATIGUE DATA SHEET No. 91:

The fatigue strength of non-load-carrying cruciform welded joints of 20-mm-thick SM490B steel was experimentally evaluated in ambient air. The 250-mm-wide slit-welded joints with a large tensile residual stress were tested at R=0. The 40-mm-wide welded specimens with a small residual stress were tested on σmax=σy (yield strength) condition. The results of these specimens coincided well for each other.

NIMS FATIGUE DATA SHEET No. 92:
Titanium alloys are important for airplanes and other fields where lightweight materials of high strength are favored.  This data sheet systematically shows giga-cycle fatigue properties up to 1010 of Ti-6Al-4V alloy (900 MPa class), using ultrasonic fatigue testing machines at 20 kHz testing frequency.
