Since
the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in
aprotic Li ion electrolytes are crucial reaction in the discharging and
charging process of nonaqueous aprotic Li−air
batteries, there is a strong demand for decreasing the overpotential
by developing efficient catalysts for ORR and OER. In the present talk, I will introduce
the recent results for the development of soluble catalyst based on quionoe derivatives and transition metal complexes with
macrocyclic ligands, which are attractive in that the redox properties can be
flexibly tuned by modifying the molecular structure and/or replacing the center
metal ions.
