Graphene has been
keeping a premier position not only in the field of the low-dimensional
sciences but also in the semiconductor device due to its unique structural and
electronic properties. However, graphene is a metal
so that graphene is not utilized in logical
electronic devices. Therefore, for realistic applications it is important to
tune the electronic structure and to get a semiconducting graphene.
In this presentation, I will theoretically demonstrate the possibility to tune
the electronic structure of graphene by foreign
materials, such as SiO2 substrate, ionic molecules, diamond that allow us to
design the novel functional devices.
