Explanation on the video:

 

This video shows the vivid process of shape memory effect for strain glass Ti48.5Ni51.5. The straight wire specimen was cooled to 138K(<<Tg) firstly and then plastically deformed by an external stress. The plastic deformation is kept unchanged essentially at 138K. On heating, the deformed wire specimen reverts to its original shape gradually. When heated to 173K(=Tg+5K), the wire specimen of strain glass recovers its original shape.
