Creep Data Unit

2023.04.01 Update

Abstract

We are evaluating long-term creep strength of heat resistant steels and alloys for thermal power plants and petrochemical plants. Our goal is to obtain 100,000h creep rupture strength because allowable stress is determined
based on the 100,000h creep rupture strength. We have published “NIMS Creep Data Sheet” since 1972. The number
of the sheet is 152 as of 1st April, 2023. Metallographic atlases and fracture-mode maps of heat resistant steels are also published based on the results of microstructure observations of creep ruptured specimens.
Creep tests are conducted for ASME Grade 91 steel welds to contribute to residual life assessment of thermal power plants. We are investigating the welds by nondestructive method. This is collaborative work with fabricators and electric power companies.
