National Institute for Materials Science

The National Institute for Materials Science issued the following three Fatigue Data Sheets dated March 31, 2010 as part of its effort to improve the intellectual infrastructure under its Mid-Term Program.

Abstract

The National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS; President: Sukekatsu Ushioda) issued the following three Fatigue Data Sheets dated March 31, 2010 as part of its effort to improve the intellectual infrastructure under its Mid-Term Program:

  1. “NIMS FATIGUE DATA SHEET No. 109 Data Sheet on Long-term High Temperature Low Cycle Fatigue Properties of Corrosion- and Heat-Resistant Super Alloy Plate NCF800H (21Cr-32Ni-Ti-Al)”
  2. “NIMS FATIGUE DATA SHEET No. 110 Data Sheet on Fatigue Properties of Extruded Magnesium Alloys AZ61 (Mg-6Al-1Zn) and AZ31 (Mg-3Al-1Zn)”
  3. NIMS FATIGUE DATA SHEET No. 111 Data Sheet on High Stress Ratio Gigacycle Fatigue Properties of Titanium Alloy Ti-6Al-4V (900MPa Class)”
Among these recently-issued Data Sheets, Data Sheet No. 109 clarifies the fatigue properties of the heat-resistant austenitic stainless steel NCF800H under high temperature for an extended period of up to 107 (10 million) cycles by strain control using a hydraulic servo type tester.
In Data Sheet No. 110, the fatigue properties of two extruded magnesium alloys, AZ61 and AZ31, up to 107 (10 million) cycles were clarified using a rotating bending fatigue tester (25Hz) and hydraulic servo type tester.
In Data Sheet No. 111, an ultrasonic fatigue test device (20kHz) was used to clarify the high stress ratio gigacycle fatigue properties of titanium alloy Ti-6Al-4V (900MPa class) up to 1010 (10 billion) cycles.

NIMS administers work related to the issuance of Data Sheets in accordance with the ISO 9001 “Quality Management System” (JIS Q 9001 “Quality Management System”) certified on May 20, 2002.
