The Closing Ceremony for the training program of Qatari engineers was held at KKR Hotel Tokyo on May 28th. NIMS President Prof. Ushioda presented certificates to the seven trainees being sent from Energy and Environment Research Institute (QEERI) of Qatar Foundation (QF) since last December.

President of QF Research and Development Mr. Faisal M. Al Suwaidi and other three QF guests attended the ceremony and gave applause to the trainees and their host researchers who had completed the six-month technical training program.

This training program for the QEERI engineers at NIMS is based on the MOU concluded when QF Chairperson Her Highness Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser visited NIMS in April 2014. His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar, and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe issued Joint Statement while His Highness’ visit to Japan in February this year, and the Statement mentioned this training program as one of the important projects for cultural and scientific cooperation.

It is expected that the promotion of collaboration between the two institutions will contribute not only to establishing the innovative society based on advanced knowledge in Qatar but also to promoting good relationship between the two nations.
