Loughborough University was initially established in 1909 as the first technical college in UK and today it is one of the UK’s leading universities with various schools and departments in the fields of science, technology and liberal arts.
There are about 12,000 undergraduate students, 4,000 graduate students (about 2,500 are from overseas of more than 100 countries) studying at Loughborough.
The university has been awarded 6 times the Queen’s Anniversary Prize, which is given by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in person to the UK’s best higher education institution of the year.
Loughborough University usually stays around tenth position in the UK university ranking by the major news papers, and for the past five years it has been voted the UK’s “Best Student Experience” in the prestigious Times Higher Awards reflecting its tremendous popularity among students.

NIMS has been collaborating with Loughborough University in the fields of coating technology, superconductive magnets and organic semiconductors.
This agreement is believed to be not only reinforcing these existing collaborations but also leading to the evolution and expansion of the cooperation between the two institutions.
