On March 11, the NIMS Hybrid Materials Center signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on research cooperation and joint research in connection with “Nanotechnology and Environmental Engineering” with the Department of Environmental Engineering of the Fraunhofer Institute for Reliability and Microintegration (IZM). Under this MOU, the two sides will promote exchanges of researchers, information exchanges, and joint research on the following 5 themes.

  1. Social impacts of nanotechnology
  2. Environment-related topics (life cycle of products)
  3. Risks of nanomaterials
  4. Applied nanotech technologies from the viewpoint of electronics
  5. Eco-friendly technology learning from nature
