Job Summary
Research on state and elemental analysis of molecular materials using transmission electron microscopy.
The postdoctoral researcher is expected to mainly contribute to imaging of molecule-based materials such as organic materials, polymers, and organic/inorganic hybrids using high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (TEM/STEM) and state and elemental analysis by using an electron beam (EDS, EELS, etc.).
 
Scope of Job Description Changes Duties are subject to change within the scope of the employee’s position.
Qualification
  1. Applicants should (or are expected to) have a PhD. degree
  2. Applicants should have experience in experiments using transmission electron microscopy (TEM/STEM). This does not depend on the materials that applicants have observed so far
  3. Applicants should have good communication skills to communicate within the group
  4. Applicants should be able to communicate about the research in English
Starting Date October 1, 2024 or later (to be discussed)
Term 1 year (Possibly up to 5 Years with Annual Evaluation)
Contract Renewal Criteria / Maximum Employment Period Renewal of the contract will be determined based on work performance, work attitude, progress of the work engaged in, workload at the end of the contract period, budget situation, and other factors. The maximum employment period shall not exceed five (5) years. This may be subject to change because of amendments to working regulations.
Work Place National Institute for Materials Science, Namiki-Site (Tsukuba, Ibaraki, Japan)
Scope of Work Location Changes The scope of the change of place of work shall be limited to each of the employer’s site, as well as other locations separately approved by the employer.
Work Hours 7 hours 45 Minutes a day, or discretionary labor system*
*Deemed working hours when the discretionary labor system is applied are 8 hours and 15 minutes per day.
Holiday Saturdays, Sundays, National Holidays, New Year holidays, annual paid leave, and other holidays as stipulated in the NIMS Regulations
Salary / Supply
Followed by NIMS regulations. Commutation allowance and national insurance are also provided.
Trial Period Two months from the start date of employment
Insurance Health insurance (MEXT Mutual Aid Association), Welfare Pension Insurance, Employment Insurance and Worker’s Accident Compensation Insurance. You will be automatically enrolled in these insurances when working conditions meet the requirements.
