President of Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) visited NIMS and signed ICGP agreement.

On Friday, 17th March, 2023, Prof. Yassine LAKHNECH (President of Grenoble Alpes University (UGA), France) visited NIMS and signed an agreement on the International Cooperative Graduate Program (ICGP).
Prior to the signing ceremony, President Lakhnech visited some labs and received research introductions from a student currently studying at NIMS from UGA and NIMS researchers conducting representative research.
NIMS expects that the excellent PhD course students of UGA under supervision of NIMS researcher will produce excellent results in many advanced materials research fields.

UGA which was founded in 1339 is one of the largest universities in France, with 59,000 students and 23 faculties, and is particularly known for its high research activities in science and engineering field.
In the World University Rankings
  • QS World University Rankings 2023: 317th
  • Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2023: 401st-500th
  • UGA is ranked 11th in the French university rankings.

In the research side, UGA has six research departments. Among them, the Department of Physical Engineering and Materials Science (PEM), which conducts research in the fields of physics, nanoscience, electronics and electrical engineering, and materials science, and the Department of Chemistry, Biology, and Health (CBS), with laboratories in biology, chemistry, life sciences, medicine, and pharmaceutical sciences, will have potential to work closely with NIMS.
In addition, more than 65 %* of all published papers which were published by UGA in 2022 are in the fields of Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Condensed Mater Physics, Atomic and molecular Physics and Optics.
* Compiled by SciVal-Scopus analysis (Analysis period: 2012-2021).

With the signing of the ICGP, it is expected that many excellent papers will be published in international journals through collaborative research with UGA PhD course students at NIMS.
