Advanced Nano Characterization Center - About

■Greetings

It is well known that nanotechnology is one of the key technologies for the sustainable development in the 21st century. Especially nanocharacterization and nanofabrication technologies play important roles in effective development of nanotechnology. In this context, Advanced Nano Characterization Center (ANCC) of NIMS has been established on April 1st, 2006, as one of the research centers of NIMS Key Nanotechnologies Field. ANCC consists of five research groups for the advanced characterization of nano-materials; 1) Advanced Probe Microscopy Group,2) Advanced Surface Chemical Analysis Group, 3) Ultrafast Spectroscopy Group, 4) Advanced Electron Microscopy Group, and 5) High Field NMR Group.
As the industrial realization of nano-products becomes accelerated, the highly precise characterization technology of nano-products will be more and more important. ANCC would like to offer such advanced and precise nanocharacterization technologies for the researches and developments of innovative nanomaterials.

■Outline of Center

Advanced Nano Characterization Center (ANCC) aims at the development of state-of-the-art technologies for in-depth characterization of nano-materials. Especially, to clarify the nanometer-scale structures and novel functionalities, we are currently developing various advanced nanocharacterization technologies such as atomic-resolution SPM under extreme fields, ultra high-resolution TEM, high-field solid-state NMR, ultrafast time-resolved spectroscopy, near-surface 3D nano-analysis technology, and so on.
