Abstract

In order to clarify the mechanism of the induction of magnetic anisotropy during d-HDDR treatment forNd-Fe-B-Ga-Nb magnet powder, relationship among degree of anisotropy, microstructures after HDtreatment and crystallographic orientation between Fe and NdH2 was investigated. As a result, similardecreasing HD treatment time dependencies were observed for both degree of anisotropy and theamount of fine lamellar structure. Higher anisotropy was obtained and such fine lamellar and coarsenedlamellar structures were observed when 0.5 ~ 3 h of HD treatment was applied. Additionally, in theselamellar structures, adjacent Fe and NdH2 grains showed the same crystallographic orientation. On theother hand, when the HD treatment time was long (10 h), anisotropy became lower and sphericalstructures with no aligned orientation relationship were observed. This suggests that for the highanisotropy in d-HDDR treatment, maintenance of crystallographic orientation between Fe and NdH2 isimportant.
