Coercivity enhancement of hot-deformed Nd-Fe-B magnets by the eutectic grain boundary diffusion process using Nd64Fe12Ga20Cu4 alloy

Abstract
The eutectic grain boundary diffusion process using Nd-Fe-Ga-Cu alloy as the diffusion source, was applied to the hot-deformed Nd-Fe-B magnets. In this work, Nd-Ga-Cu and Nd-Fe-Ga-Cu diffusion-processed samples showed same coercivity of 2.2 T, while Nd-Fe-Ga-Cu diffusion-processed sample possessed higher degree of texture, thus a higher remanence. The mechanism of coercivity enhancement was addressed in this talk with detailed SEM and TEM characterizations.
