We contribute to realize advanced materials by analyzing and controlling nano structure and surface physics

Advanced material properties depend on their surface, interface or nano structures, and the knowledge of those structures is indispensable for material science. Surface Physics and Structure Unit consists of four research groups that have each core competence in structure analysis or surface physics. The unit is in charge of several NIMS research projects and seeds-driven researches.
