Development of novel crystalline materials for optical and electronic applications

We are studying materials like diamond, sapphire and garnet. However, we are not studying jewelries. The most important characteristics of jewelries are transparency and color. We are interested in the transparency and color because those characteristics are originated in the interaction between light and matter. Transparency means that visible light go through the matter without any interaction and brilliant color comes from interaction between matter and light of specific wavelength. In this context, we devote ourselves to reveal interaction between light and matter to develop and utilize the matter having useful functions.
