Theoretical exploration on physical phenomena and materials properties in which many-body quantum effects are crucially important, such as superconductivity and magnetism

Paradigm shift is taking place in materials science. Instead of serendipity, designing and realizing desirable electronic structures are expected to play the pilot role. This poses a grand challenge to the wisdom of human being, since one needs to go beyond one-body theories in condensed-matter physics which support the Si-based electronics. As one of the cutting edge, we are exploring novel phenomena and their potential applications of superconductivity and magnetism, where many-body quantum effects are crucially important.
