Creation of novel materials functionalities by the exploration, materialization and characterization of new nanosystems
Various nanostructures that exhibit interesting characteristics will create much more interesting novel materials functionality when the nanostructures are systematically organized into a nanosystem in which interactions between the nanostructures play important roles to create the novel functionality. Aiming at the realization of such nanosystems, we are making studies in the following three aspects. 1) What kinds of nanosystems should we create? : Theoretical and computational studies. 2) How can we construct the nanosystems? : Nanoarchitectonic practical methodology. 3) How can we characterize the functionalities of the constructed nanosystems: Nnovel nanoscale characterization methods. We are making these studies in collaboration with other research units in and out of MANA.
