Photonic Materials Unit aims at creating innovative optical functions and devices based on new concepts by its original, most advanced nano-fabrication technologies. To support this research, it also develops sophisticated technologies for surface analysis, micro spectroscopy, and theoretical study. Especially, it focuses on high-regularity colloidal crystals, quantum dots by droplet epitaxy, isoelectronic traps realizing ultra-narrow emission bands, metamaterials in optical frequency ranges, and organic nano-fibers.
