In our research, the Inorganic Nanostructured Materials Group searches for heretofore unknown, novel nanotubes, nanowires and other nanoscale materials, develops methods to synthesize these materials and evaluates the microstructures and characteristics thereof. We use chemical nanostructure manipulation techniques, such as CVD and solution methods, to synthesize novel nanoscale materials, and we are developing methods for the high-yield synthesis of ultra-pure materials. We use our group’s 300kv field-emission analytical electron microscope to analyze the microstructures, compositions and electronic states of these new materials. We also use ion scattering and magnetometry to conduct physics research into various nanostructured materials.
