Conference Venue

  1. The NC-AFM 2014 conference will be held at the Tsukuba International Congress Center (2-20-3 Takezono,Tsukuba, Ibaraki, 305-0032 Japan). The Congress Center is located at a convenient walking distance from main hotels in Tsukuba and from the Tsukuba Express train station (see map). The talks, poster sessions, coffee breaks and commercial exhibition will be held all together at the Main Convention Hall. The registration desk will be opened daily, and it will be located at the first floor entrance of the Main Convention Hall.

Welcome Party

  1. There will be a get-together welcome party from 18:00 to 21:00 of Monday 4th of August 2014 at the Multi-purpose Hall of the Tsukuba International Congress Center.

Excursion

  1. There will be a guided visit (in English) to the Tsukuba Space Center of the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) on Thursday afternoon (7th of August), with buses departing from the Tsukuba International Congress Center. The excursion is limited to a maximum of 100 participants by JAXA regulation. Assignment of participants will be done by registration order.

Banquet and Posters Award Ceremony

  1. The conference dinner and the posters award ceremony will be on Thursday evening (7th of August from 18:00 to 21:00).

  2. In the 2014 edition of the NC-AFM Conference there will be a best poster award with a 1000 EURO cash prize (sponsored by SPECS) and three finalists “ATI poster award” with 100,000 JPY cash prize each (sponsored by ATI).

  3. Only students are eligible for the Poster Award. We encourage the students to prepare their poster contributions taking into account that the jury will independently score: (i) the visual appearance of the poster; (ii) the communication skills, self-confidence and enthusiasm of the presenter; and (iii), the originality and scientific merit of the contribution.

Web Access

  1. Access to wireless internet will be provided through the conference at the Tsukuba International Congress Center. The account settings will be available at the conference site.

Restaurants, Karaoke and Bars:

  1. There is a restaurant at the Tsukuba International Congress Center. For those that would like to enjoy the variety of Japanese cuisine, we have prepared a list of restaurants around the Congress Center to have lunch and dinner.

  2. It is tradition in previous NC-AFM conferences organized in Japan to socialize after the scientific sessions at the Karaoke. There are several Karaoke places nearby the Congress Center (reservation may be required). As alternative to Karaoke, there are also several bars in the area.
