
Our research target is to explore essential constituents for realization of functional nano-system. In one way, from the standpoint of nanoscience, we are aiming at 'functional design of a nanostructure system and access to its system'. In the other way, we shall promote a study on 'a fabrication method to make nanostructures functional with selective chemical reaction'. We have been observing ULSI processes with scanning tunneling microscope at elevated temperatures and another chemical analysis, then we would take new turn to find for selective chemical reaction more systematically, and we believe that this method could be strong tool to control nanostructures.
One example of 'functional design of a nanostructure system' project is 'Research Project on active atom-wire interconnects' where we have found a bismuth nanoline on SI(001) as shown in figures in this page.
