MANA International Symposium 2012
Jointly with ICYS

Date:   Feb. 29th (Wed) to Mar. 2nd (Fri), 2012
  Place: Epochal Tsukuba, Japan

The International Center for Materials Nanoarchitectonics (MANA) has been established at the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS) in October 2007 as one of the five research centers selected as part of the World Premier International (WPI) Research Center Initiative, launched by Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). In order to develop a sustainable society, MANA intends to open a new paradigm of materials science development based on a new technology system named “materials nanoarchitectonics”, where nanoscale structural units are arranged in desired configuration to create novel functionality by manipulating the interaction between the units.Based on the convergence of nanoarchitectonics technologies, MANA focuses on the 4 research fields, 1) Nano-materials, 2) Nano-system, 3) Nano-green, 4) Nano-bio.

The MANA International Symposium, jointly held with International Center for Young Scientist (ICYS) is organized once a year to disseminate the research results of MANA and ICYS to a wides audience. At the MANA Symposium 2012 we invite Prof. Ei-ichi Negishi (Nobel Laureate in Chemistry 2010), Dr. Heinrich Rohrer (Nobel Laureate in Physics 1986) and many distinguished guests from around the world to discuss the research activities and future directions of MANA. More than 40 oral presentations including 10 invited lectures and 80 poster presentations will be presented for 3 days.

We hope all participants will enjoy the Symposium and obtain fresh inspirations.
