– Road to the Development of a Zero Starting Time PC –

Dec 24, 2010

This research was conducted by
Atomic Electronics Group headed by Tsuyoshi Hasegawa,
in collaboration with a group of Prof. Ogawa at Osaka University
and a group of Prof. Yamaguchi at the University of Tokyo.

A novel transistor, the “atom transistor,” which performs both logic and memory functions while reducing power consumption to 1 x 10-6 that of the conventional devices, were successfully developed. This work is expected to accelerate the realization of zero-starting time personal computers (PC) and other electronic equipments.
