MANA exhibited the booth “Nano Ranger Smart Polymer Rangers” at the Tsukuba Science Festival 2015 in Tsukuba, Ibaraki Prefecture held on October 31st (Sat.) and November 1st (Sun.), 2015. The Tsukuba Science Festival 2015 is a science exchange event which provides “hands-on” learning experiences for members of the general public, and is organized by Tsukuba City and the Tsukuba City Board of Education. This year, 56 bodies in Tsukuba City, such as schools and research institutes, participated in the event, and 17,977 people joined us.

MANA researchers demonstrated science experiments about “smart polymers” as a future material for disease diagnosis and treatment, and also presented a science show. This year, many participants joined us, and both the booth and the show were successfully held.

The MANA booth was exhibited with the help of students from Namiki Junior High School, who enthusiastically explained the MANA exhibition. This was an expression of appreciation to MANA Scientist Dr. Mitsuhiro Ebara for his special lectures during the recent summer vacation.

Many families with small children also enjoyed the Smart Polymer Ranger Science Show held in Capio Hall on Sunday, November 1st.

This exhibition was held as part of the collaborative project of the University of Tsukuba and MANA, "Tsukuba Action Project (T-ACT): Science Communication Program 3." The students who participated in the project dressed as “smart polymer rangers” and appeared in both the exhibition and the science show. Those experiences contributed to enhancing their science communication skills.
