The symposium featured three plenary lectures from Prof. Viola Vogel (ETH), Prof. Toshihiro Akaike (FAIS) and Dr. Yasuhiro Sawada (NRCD), as well as invited talks by 11 distinguished scientists from Japan and other countries. Research results on mechanobiology studies at MANA were also announced by 9 oral talks. In addition, 37 poster presentations were made on the first day with active discussions and exchanges of idea. The topics cover not only researches discussing mechano-nanoarchitectonics in biology and disease, but also new materials and methods potentially useful to address mechanobiology. The symposium attracted approximately 120 participants over the 2-day period, strongly indicating significance of the interdisciplinary researches between materials science and mechanobiology.
