SCIENCE AGORA 2013

20 Nov, 2013

MANA participated in an event "SCIENCE AGORA 2013" dated November 9 and 10 at Odaiba, Tokyo. Science Agora is the biggest science exchange event in Japan where people have the opportunity to meet with experts and share the latest technologies, challenges and innovations in science. MANA presented “‘Smart polymer’, the future material for disease diagnosis and treatment“ from Smart Biomaterials Group, Biomaterials Unit, Nano-Life Field. We authored a picture-book entitled “Smapo Rangers” in order to explain smart polymers to visitors in a graspable way; and our researchers, who appeared as children friendly rangers, handed out the book and demonstrated experiments. Also we introduced examples of biomaterial application in the future, such as nanomaterials for the early detection of biomarkers and nanofiber mesh for cancer therapy. It attracted great popularity from visitors including parents and children, and students.
